THEATER TECHNICIAN WANTED!
Job Duties: Oversight and
organization of theater season's set construction and set strike;
maintenance of set building and painting equipment; organization of
storage areas; and maintenance of inventory lists. The theater season
has 5-6 annual productions, with 1-2 off-site. Special events,
rentals, and fundraisers are also scheduled throughout the
season. Mandatory hours: set strike is ALWAYS the last day
of a show's run. Other hours are flexible. 12 hours per
month. $10 per hour. Contact the office for details.

FREE THEATER WORKSHOPS!
SATURDAYS BACKSTAGE

Have you ever wondered what
happens behind the scenes of a theater production? Or want to get
involved, but don't know how to get started? You're in
luck! We are hosting FREE workshops to introduce you to the
behind-the-scenes action of the theater! These sessions are open
to ANYONE interest in attending, ages 9 to adult. This Saturday's
workshop, "Tour, Terms and Tactics," will be hosted by Tania
Larson Legvold, and will be the first in a series of FREE theatrical
experiences called "Saturdays Backstage."

School is out and what are you
going to do the keep the kids entertained and engaged? Bring them
to the Arts Guild between 11 a.m. and 3:00 p.m! Fred Gustafson
and Joey Fleming will lead step-by-step art projects that the kids can
enjoy. There will also be other independent art projects they can
work on.

a Drawing Expedition" -- a drawing class taught by
the very popular Dr. Jellyfish (Matt Bunch).

& Daughter Belly Dancing and Modern
Dance Technique.
Don't forget! we offer an Introduction to Wheel Throwing for Adults

BUILD YOUR OWN WEBSITE FOR
ARTISTS
(And have it up and running at the completion of 3
workshops)
February 18, 25 & March
3; 9:30 a.m. - noon
Presented by Springboard for
the Arts and the Northfield Arts Guild
Artists will be instructed how
to create their own professional website. Upon completion of the
workshop, participants will have their own portfolio-style website up
and running on the internet. Computers will be provided, but
registrants are encouraged to bring their own laptops if
possible. No website building knowledge necessary.
3-part class: February 18, 25 and March 3; 9:30am-noon
at the Northfield Middle School, Room 139 (computer lab).
Cost is $75 - this includes purchase of your own url and
web hosting.
Register at the Arts Guild office.
Enrollment is limited to 15 people so full payment of
class ensures their seat.

LOOKING FOR ACTORS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE READING
OF A NEW PLAY
Auditions

January 29, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Actors are invited to audition on Sunday, January 29,
3:00-5:00 p.m. for A Falling Out, a new play by
Christine Kallman that will be presented in a reading in March.
The play reading will take place on Sunday, March 11 at
4:00 p.m. at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater. The play will be
read script-in-hand.
This reading will be the capstone project for an
Individual Artist Grant in cooperation with the Southeastern Minnesota
Arts Council, Inc. through funding from the Minnesota State
Legislature.

Winter Words, Northfield Arts
Guild's winter reading, will take place Saturday, February 18, 2011 at
7:30 p.m. at the Center for the Arts. Local writers will read
their own original poetry and prose at this event, Winter Words.
This event is free and open to the public.

PAPER DADDY

Paper Daddy is a play written by former Northfield
resident and former Star Tribune writer Kristine
Holmgren. The Northfield Arts Guild, an organization which
supports the artistic endeavors of local artists, is happy to present
the premiere production of this charming and delightfully funny
contemporary drama. As the play is set in Northfield, the
landmarks mentioned in the play's dialogue are bound to be familiar to
many of us!
The roles in this play range in age from early 20's to mid 60's.
Please note that the auditions will be held at the Center for the Arts,

Poor Mortimer Brewster has problems. Not only has he
backed himself into a romantic corner, he has a menagerie of kooky
relatives to contend with! His sweet, old spinster aunts have
taken up an ethically questionable hobby, plus one uncle thinks he's
Teddy Roosevelt and the other uncle has had plastic surgery and now
looks like Boris Karloff! This dark comedy is sure to cause uproarious
laughter.

One Stroke at at Time by Joyce
Francis
Joyce Francis exhibits her ink and watercolor paintings. These
works on paper are made using the Zentangle technique, a meditative art
form that uses repeating patterns.
Ceramics and Traditional Chinese Painting by Fred
Gustafson
Fred Gustafson shows a series of large-scale plates. Influenced
by traditional Chinese painting styles, these plates are decorated with
Chinese characters, landscape scenes, and bamboo motifs.

SCHOLARSHIPS & CLASS DISCOUNTS
These are the scholarship changes for
2012:
- The maximum
scholarship awarded to cover tuition is now 40%.
- Scholarships no
longer cover class supplies or materials.
- One scholarship will
be available per student each semester.
- Scholarships may
only be applied to one class at a time.
- Scholarship
applications must be submitted for each semester and for summer
workshops.
- Scholarships already
in effect will be "grandfathered" in until the end of
the Winter-Spring 2012 semester.
These are the class discount changes for
2012:
- The discount for
registering for more than one class is being changed to an
across-the-board amount of 20%. This amount will be applied
to the class(es) of shortest duration.
- The discount for
enrolling a sibling in the same class has been discontinued.
- 15% class and
building use rental for Producer level and higher memberships has
been discontinued.

tuition and expense for you enrolled student(s) please call the
office.
